PERRYVILLE (AP) - Two former employees of a Perry County nursing home are charged with exploiting elderly patients by raiding at trust account.
The Arkansas attorney general's office said Wednesday that 48-year-old Jewel Darlene English and 35-year-old Sharla Renea Christie, both Perryville residents, spent the money on clothes, jewelry and other personal items.
They are accused of stealing from a total of $4,600 from a trust account that was in place to cover personal expenses of nursing home residents.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's office says English allegedly stole from eight residents and Christie is accused of stealing from four. Both women face felony charges.
The AG's office says English was the administrator of Perry County Nursing and Rehabilitation. Christie was the home's office manager.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
