2 lawsuits challenge judicial candidates in Conway
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Two lawsuits have been filed challenging the eligibility of two people running for separate judgeships in Faulkner County.
The lawsuits allege that candidate Angela Byrd and current Circuit Judge H.G. Foster are ineligible for the ballot because both had their law licenses temporarily suspended for not paying annual state-bar fees.
According to the lawsuit, Foster's law license has been suspended four times since 2009 for nonpayment of dues. Foster tells the Log Cabin Democrat (http://bit.ly/1j43AlZ ) that he believed his dues were paid last year but "ill-advisedly did not follow up on it."
The lawsuit challenging Byrd says her law license was suspended for one day this year when she paid her dues a day late. Byrd didn't return a calling seeking comment Wednesday.
