More than two dozen dogs and cats that had been living in filth are getting a new start this weekend.
The 29 animals are just some of the animals Arkansas State Police found at a home in White County in July.
They had been living without food or water and were left in the heat.
Police called in the U.S. Humane Society, which, along with Saline County Humane Society, rescued the animals.
Saturday many of them went to their new homes.
"It makes me cry all day long, saying goodbye to them," said rescue team member Michele Lago. "We've cared for them for eight weeks now and we grow attached to them, we love them like they're our own animals and we are so excited and so happy to see them get into their new homes with their new families."
The Saline County Humane Society is holding another adoption day Sunday from noon until 4:00 p.m.
