LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas transportation officials say westbound traffic on Interstate 40 in eastern Arkansas will be reduced to just one lane for several days while crews work to repair damage caused by an early-morning tractor-trailer accident.
Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials said Saturday that a tandem tractor-trailer departed the eastbound travel lanes at 7:51 a.m., went into the median and came to rest adjacent to the westbound bridge over Allen Bayou just west of Earle. The resulting fire caused damage to the structure.
Officials estimate the left westbound lane will be closed for about one week as crews work to repair the damage. Traffic on I-40 will be controlled with the use of warning signs and barrels.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
