(KATV) American Airlines had computer problems, causing widespread delays. Tuesday, the flight carrier grounded all flights as it dealt with a reservation system outage.
Passengers were stuck on planes and in airports while others could not make reservations. It's estimated upwards of 100,000 people have been affected.
The carrier says the network system was experiencing intermittent outages. In a statement, the company said customers can rebook through American Airlines reservations or through another carrier and they would honor the fare difference. Customers that chose not to travel Tuesday would be given a refund.
Late Tuesday afternoon American Airlines said its systems have been fully restored but continued delays and cancellations are expected. Flights are expected to get off the ground by 5 p.m. ET.
American Airlines is one of the nation's largest air carriers.
