FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Fort Smith-based ArcBest Corporation has announced plans to purchase 40 acres at Chafee Crossing in Fort Smith where it plans to build a new corporate headquarters and add up to 975 new jobs.
Company officials joined with state and local officials to announce the plans during a news conference Friday in Fort Smith.
ArcBest was formerly known as Arkansas Best Corporation and is a freight transportation and logistics company. Its companies include ABF Freight, ABF Logistics, Panther Premium Logistics, FleetNet America, U-Pack and ArcBest Technologies.
Groundbreaking on the new facility is expected later this year.
