LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Attorney General and Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Dustin McDaniel says he stands behind comments acknowledging his extramarital relationship, despite the lawyer with whom he was involved suggesting he isn't telling the whole story.
McDaniel said in a statement Wednesday that he regretted the unwanted attention that Hot Springs attorney Andrea L. Davis has received as a result of the "inappropriate" relationship he admitted to with her last month. McDaniel on Tuesday publicly apologized for the relationship at a news conference.
Davis said Tuesday night she was disappointed with McDaniel's comments and suggested he wasn't telling the whole truth. She also said the two exchanged more than 500 text messages.
A spokesman for McDaniel would not confirm the number of messages the pair exchanged.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
