Ark. audit questions $1.3M in Medicaid payments
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Legislative auditors are questioning $1.3 million in Medicaid payments to Arkansas providers that they say weren't adequately documented. State Human Services officials say the findings don't reflect any improper payments.
Auditors questioned the payments on Friday as they presented to the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee a review of the $8.6 billion in federal funds the state received over the last fiscal year. The questioned payments were among $231 million made to home and community based services provided by the program for the elderly and disabled.
DHS officials said they reviewed the questioned payments and found that the services were delivered.
The audit was reviewed as the state prepares to launch a Medicaid Inspector General office to investigate reports of waste, fraud and abuse in the $5 billion Medicaid program.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press.
