Ark. man accused of crashing into detective's car

JUDSONIA (AP) - Authorities in White County say a man is in jail after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a detective's unmarked car, then fled.

Authorities say the incident happened Wednesday morning near Judsonia. According to the White County Sheriff's Office, 40-year-old Jerry Wayne Smith II crossed the center line and crashed into a car driven by Detective Jeff Williams.

Authorities say Smith allegedly ran toward Williams and drew a knife, but authorities eventually wrestled Smith to the ground.

The Daily Citizen reports that Smith was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Smith was taken to the White County Medical Center for a minor injury, then was booked in the jail. Authorities did not know if he had an attorney.

Authorities say Williams also suffered a minor injury.
