FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Prosecutors have cleared a Fort Smith police officer of any wrongdoing in a shooting that wounded a man.
Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Shue cleared Officer Brandon Djordjevic on Monday in the shooting of 31-year-old Anthony Price.
Shue's report says officers were called to Seasons Inn at about 3:30 a.m. on March 31 after a group of people reportedly refused to leave the premises. The Southwest Times Record reports (http://bit.ly/YaRDSh ) that Price tried to drive away when officers arrived.
Fort Smith police say Djordjevic opened fire after he saw Price reach for something under his seat. Price was struck in the leg.
Prosecutors say no weapon was located in Price's vehicle. But Shue says the shooting was justified because Djordjevic believed he and other officers were at risk.
