Ark. officer on leave after 107-year-old killed

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Authorities say a police officer is on paid, administrative leave after a 107-year-old Arkansas man was killed in a weekend standoff.

Pine Bluff Police Sgt. David DeFoor said Tuesday that an officer who was involved in the standoff was placed on leave immediately after the Saturday incident.

DeFoor wouldn't release the name of the officer, who has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Police say they shot 107-year-old Monroe Isadore after he opened fire at them.

Authorities have said they used negotiating tactics, a camera and gas before shooting Isadore.

It's common practice for law enforcement officers involved in shootings to be placed on leave as authorities investigate.

Prosecutors are expected to review the case as early as this week.
