TRUMANN, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas prosecutor has cleared a Trumann police officer who shot a man while attempting to serve a warrant.
Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington of Jonesboro made the finding Friday in the shooting involving Lt. Gary Henry. A letter from Ellington to Arkansas State Police says Henry was justified in using deadly force to protect himself and another officer from Jacob A. Brown and that no further review is necessary. Ellington says Brown, who survived his injuries, may face charges.
The shooting occurred on Oct. 22 when officers were serving a felony warrant on Brown and Brown took off running, then allegedly pointed a weapon in the direction of the officers. Henry fired three shots.
Trumann Police Chief Chad Henson says Brown's gun was recovered and the officers were not injured.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
