Ark. releases rates for insurance exchange

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Premium rates for health insurance plans that will be sold on the individual market were released Monday.

Arkansas insurance officials released the rates for 71 policies through the healthcare exchange.
Gov. Mike Beebe said he's pleased because the rates were lower than expected.
"The cost is 10% less. It's a better deal for taxpayers and everybody," Gov. Beebe said Monday. "May not be a better deal for insurance companies, but I think it's 25% below their requested rates, but they're all happy because they signed contracts."
Open enrollment begins on October 1 and coverage starts January 1, 2014.
