Arkansas aeronautics director announces retirement

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The director of the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics has announced plans to retire.

John Knight of Arkadelphia plans to step down Sept. 1 after 27 years at the agency. Assistant Director Jerry Chism was named interim director.

Knight first worked as an assistant director at the department before being named director in 1992 by then-Gov. Jim Guy Tucker.
