GARLAND CITY (AP) - A former mayor of a south Arkansas town is back home after spending more than two years in federal custody.
Former Garland City Mayor Yvonne Dockery served more than two years of a 30-month prison sentence after she was convicted of 3 counts of mail fraud in July 2010. Prosecutors accused her of creating phony invoices for fire equipment that never existed.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons website says Dockery was released from custody last Thursday.
Dockery tells Shreveport, La., television station KSLA that she was looking out for the best interest of the city and that she's innocent of any wrongdoing.
She says spent the first 21 months at a federal prison in Florida and the last five months at a halfway house in Little Rock.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
