Arkansas lottery gives away aggregate $1B

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has reached a milestone - it has now given away $1 billion in prizes since it began selling tickets in 2009.

The lottery said Tuesday that it gave away its billionth dollar on Monday, after selling tickets for 3 years and 5 months.

Overall, gamblers have bought $1.5 billion in tickets, $321 million of which has gone to college scholarships to Arkansas students.
