Arkansas man gets 3 years after Idaho pot bust

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - An Arkansas man who said he was promised just over $11,000 to bring 25 pounds of marijuana from Oregon to another state has been sentenced to at least three years in an Idaho prison for trafficking the drug.

The Idaho Statesman reports 4th District Judge Richard Greenwood sentenced 54-year-old Jeffrey Boyd Ash of Fayetteville, Ark., on Tuesday to up to four years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after serving three.

Ash was arrested in November after a Boise motel clerk called police saying he had showed her a picture of his genitals on his cellphone. In court on Tuesday, Ash admitted he was holding an unlit joint when he answered the door. Officers found just over 25 pounds of the drug in the shower.

Ash pleaded guilty in April.
