TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - A federal judge has ordered a former food mart employee to pay nearly $600,000 to a commercial trucking company for phony fuel purchases.
The Texarkana Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1unv4bz ) Sadiq Sadruddin Lakhani was sentenced Wednesday in Texarkana. He was also ordered to serve six months in federal prison followed by six months of home detention.
Prosecutors say Lakhani was working as a counter clerk at Horizon Food Mart in Prescott when he used ill-gotten credit card numbers to scam the Ryder Truck Co. They say he made the fraudulent fuel purchases from 2009-2012.
The judge says Lakhani's lack of a criminal history and cooperation with authorities influenced the sentencing.
