Arkansas National Guard recalls most furloughed employees

CAMP ROBINSON (KATV) - The Arkansas National Guard is recalling most of its 738 furloughed employees.{}

The Public Affairs department released a statement saying most dual-status military technicians and civilian federal employees will return to work after guidance was issued Saturday from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

The recall does not include 294 state employees of the Arkansas Military Department.{}

"While I am relieved weare putting most of our technicians back to work, I am deeply concerned aboutthe continued financial and emotional impact on employees of the ArkansasMilitary Department," said Maj. Gen. William D. Wofford, The Adjutant Generalfor Arkansas, "All our employees are critical to the mission of the Guard, wewill not be back at 100% until the government shutdown ends and we are back tobusiness as usual." {}

The Public Affairs statement emphasizes that employees should not show up to work on Monday until they are notified by their supervisors.{}
