Arkansas receives $300K in FEMA firefighter grants
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved more than $300,000 in grants to pay for equipment for firefighters and emergency responders.
The federal grants announced Monday are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program, which provides funding for equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources.
In Arkansas, the grants will pay for 10 power lift cots and stretchers for the Washington County Regional Ambulance Authority Central Emergency Medical Services in Fayetteville. The grants will also pay for firefighting gear for the Lone Rock Volunteer Fire Department in Norfork, the North Pulaski Fire Protection District 15 in Jacksonville, the Sherwood Fire Department and the city of Vilonia.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press.
