Hundreds turned out Saturday to pay their respects to an Arkansas hero killed while serving our country in Afghanistan.
Army Sgt. Michael Strachota, a 28-year-old Pine Bluff native, was on his second tour of duty to the Middle East when he killed June 28th.
Saturday the streets in his hometown were lined with supporters holding flags. They turned out to show their appreciation for his service and ultimate sacrifice. It was a somber and emotional scene as his flag draped coffin was carried into St.Joseph Catholic Church where he was a member
According to his family Sgt. Strachota was driving in a convoy when another vehicle ran into one of the trucks causing a large explosion. He was just days away from returning home for two weeks to celebrate his son's birthday.
