The public is invited to join the park staff during the week leading up to and including Labor Day Weekend for family friendly activities and programs that help celebrate the founding and building of Petit Jean State Park. The theme for the 2014 Arkansas State Parks Legacy Week is "Arkansas State Parks: Conserving Our Legacy."
Petit Jean State Park will be offering interpretive programming which celebrates our park founders and highlights our unique cultural and natural resources.
This programming will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 27, and will conclude on the Monday of Labor Day, Sept. 1.
In conjunction with Legacy Week, "Petit Jean Founders and Builders Day" will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 30, and will include a morning "Petit Jean Riddle Hunt," as well as an afternoon "Petit Jean style" version of softball at the park's ball field, which was the site of the CCC Camp in the 1930s. Detailed program schedules will be available at the park's visitor center or at historic Mather Lodge. This event is family oriented, free of charge and open to the public.
