Arkansas surprised at not hosting NCAA regional

FAYETTEVILLE (AP) - Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn says he was surprised the Razorbacks weren't selected as 1 of the 16 regional hosts for the upcoming NCAA baseball tournament.

The field of 64 teams was announced on Monday, with Arkansas (37-20) being sent to the Manhattan Regional as a No. 2 seed behind host Kansas State.

The Razorbacks began the season as the No. 1 team in the country and finished third in the Southeastern Conference. They will open the tournament against No. 3 seed Bryant on Friday.

Arkansas won its first two games at last week's SEC Tournament, including a win over eventual tournament winner LSU, before falling to the Tigers in the semifinals. The Razorbacks were a No. 2 seed last year and reached the College World Series.
