Arkansas Tech ready to unveil new dorm this fall

RUSSELLVILLE - Arkansas Tech's newest dorm is on schedule for students to move in for the first time this fall.

M Street ResidenceHall, a new five-story housing facility, will be home for 290 students beginningnext month.

Aaron Hogan, associate dean for residence life atArkansas Tech, reports that the beds were delivered and installed last week.Lobby furniture will begin arriving on Thursday and the mattresseswill be delivered the first week in August.

Once the washers and dryers are installed in the M StreetResidence Hall basement laundry room in mid-August, the facility will be readyto house students for the first time.

Freshmen will move in on Aug. 24, followed by returningstudents two days later. Male students will be on the first, third and fifth floors and female students will be on the second and fourth floors.

With the addition of M Street, ATU will be able to house around 3,000 students - more than triplethe number who lived on campus 15 years ago.

Classes for the fall 2013 semester at Arkansas Techbegin on Aug. 28.
