Arkansas thought it was worth NIT

FAYETTEVILLE (AP) - Mike Anderson expected his team to still be playing.

The second-year Arkansas head coach said Friday he felt the Razorbacks deserved a bid to the National Invitational Tournament based on their strength of schedule. Arkansas finished the season 19-13 after a 75-72 loss to Vanderbilt in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament.

The Razorbacks had four wins over NCAA tournament teams and three teams that made the NIT, but failed to make the postseason for the fifth consecutive season. Arkansas was 17-1 at Bud Walton Arena, but won just twice away from home.

Anderson says the program is on the right track, but lacked the toughness and experience needed to consistently win on the road.
