Arkansas Women Up In The Rankings

The University of Arkansas women's basketball team moved up to No. 23 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday.

Arkansas moved to 12-1 with a 70-56 win over Coppin State Friday and are idle until they open Southeastern Conference action at Auburn Jan. 3.

The Razorbacks moved into the poll in week eight entering at No. 25 with 95 votes. They move to No. 23 today with 165 total votes.

Arkansas has just one loss on the year and that is a three-point set back to then No. 13 Oklahoma in Hawai'i. The Razorbacks have a win over No. 17 Kansas, 64-56, earlier this season as well.

The last time Arkansas was ranked was Jan. 23, 2011, Collen's fourth season at Arkansas. Collen and the Razorbacks were in the top 25 in 2007-08, his first season, as well.

The Razorbacks are one of six SEC teams in the top 25 and one of seven mentioned in the poll. Kentucky leads the SEC and is ranked No. 6 this week with a 12-1 record and 799 points. Georgia checks in at No. 10 with a 12-1 record and 600 points followed by No. 12 Tennessee at 9-3 with 557 points. South Carolina is ranked No. 18 with a 12-1 record and 309 points followed by the Razorbacks. Texas A&M stays at No. 24 with a 9-4 record and 135 points.

Arkansas opens the SEC home schedule hosting the Aggies on Jan. 6.
