Auburn's Malzahn: ASU 1 of nation's hottest teams

By JOHN ZENORAP Sports Writer

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn coach Gus Malzahn calls Arkansas State "1 of the hottest teams in college football."

He helped the Red Wolves start their current 9-game winning streak going into Saturday night's meeting. Malzahn was Arkansas State's coach last season.

Malzahn says the Red Wolves "know how to win, and they expect to win." He's trying to cultivate that mentality for his new team as well.

Both teams are led by coaches who made their reputations as offensive coordinators, Malzahn at Auburn and Tulsa; Bryan Harsin at Texas and Boise State.

Nevertheless both relied heavily on the running games instead of new starting quarterbacks in their openers.

Neither Auburn's Nick Marshall nor Utah State transfer Adam Kennedy put up big numbers and both attempted fewer than 20 passes.
