Backhoe stolen 17 years ago in Georgia, found in Arkansas

Almost two decades after disappearing, a stolen backhoe is in the process of being returned to its owner.

Lonoke County deputies got a tip Thursday afternoon that a stolen backhoe was at a home on Highway 236 East. Deputy Tim Files found a 1994 Caterpiller 416B backhoe that had been reported stolen in September 1995.

The backhoe was stolen from a construction site in Atlanta, Georgia. The backhoe was valued at $56,000 in 1995.

The backhoe will be given to the insurance company. How the backhoe ended up in Arkansas is still being investigated.
