LITTLE ROCK (KATV, Source: Baptist Health) Last year Baptist Health's communitywellness centers provided screenings and health services for more than 10,600underserved Arkansans. Now even more patients can be seen with the opening ofBaptist Health's 17th wellness center located at Liberty HillMissionary Baptist Church in Little Rock.
This new church-based center will be openthe second Monday of the month from 3 to 6 p.m. at 1215 South Schiller Streetand is operated by community health nurses.
The free health services will vary ateach wellness center, but some of the offerings include blood pressure, bloodsugar and cholesterol screenings; diabetes, prenatal, tobacco, health andweight management education classes; immunizations and flu shots; and communityreferrals and care coordination. The purpose of these centers is to help localresidents prevent common health problems through education and screenings forearly detection and treatment.
