BAXTER COUNTY (KATV) - A 25-year-old man was arrested Monday evening on burglary charges after sheriff's deputies say he was found in someone else's home.
The owners told investigators they found Mason Michael Seay of Jordan, Ark., in their home when they got home around 12:30 Sunday afternoon. They said they know Seay, who tried to give an excuse for being in their home. Because of their connection, they didn't call deputies right away.
After looking through the home, though, they found 16 one-dollar coins were missing as well as a diamond ring valued at $2,000.
Seay reportedly called them Monday admitting to the theft and promised to return everything. The owners then called deputies who arrested Seay when he arrived to return the property.
Seay is also suspected in a shoplifting incident at the Dollar General in Salesville, Ark. Investigators said in a press release he also admitted to that crime.
He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond on a felony residential burglary charge, two counts of felony theft of property and a misdemeanor theft of property charge. Seay will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on October 4.
