Beavers bothering Jonesboro residents
Some Jonesboro residents are waking up to a rather unpleasant sight. Large families of beavers are causing significant damage to trees.
"They have decided to make their home over by Turtle Creek," said Larry Rogers with Jonesboro Animal Control. "The waterway there, they've produced a dam there. They've chewed down several of the trees in the area."
Rogers says animal control is not equipped to handle the beavers.
The rodents can use their powerful jaws and teeth to chew through the toughest of steel traps.
"That's why we need to leave it to the professionals. There's actually professional nuisance animal removers here in the city, professional trappers with licenses."
Rogers says the beavers are causing hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in damage for homeowners.
