LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe is speaking to the Political Animals Club as he gears up for next month's legislative session.
Beebe was scheduled to speak Wednesday to the club, which meets regularly to hear from elected officials and other political figures. The club planned to meet at the Governor's Mansion for the lunchtime speech.
Beebe was expected to talk about the legislative session that convenes Feb. 10 to focus primarily on the state's budget. The session is likely to be dominated by debate over the state's "private option" compromise Medicaid expansion.
The expansion is at risk of being defunded after losing at least two votes in the state Senate. It was approved last year as an alternative to expanding Medicaid under the federal health care law.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
