Detectives with the Benton Police Department arrested a suspect in Friday's shooting on Millbrook Cove. 35-year-old Jason Gaunt of Benton, was taken into custody late Friday night.
Police say they found evidence that Gaunt helped the victim, 29-year-old Timothy Gauldin of Benton, shoot himself. Officers searched Gaunt's home and found the gun that was used in the shooting, as well as a marijuana and related paraphernalia.
Gaunt, a teacher with the Little Rock School District, was arrested for furnishing a firearm to a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police say Gauldin hasn't been formally charged yet because of the seriousness of his injuries, but he is facing felony charges. Gauldin is an active parolee out of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.
