      Boil water order in effect for city of Clarendon

      CLARENDON (KATV) - The Department of Health has issued a 'Boil Order' notice forthe city of Clarendon.

      The order was issued as a precautionary measure due to ofthe possibility of contaminated water. Contaminated water may have entered thedistribution system as a result of complete loss in normal system pressure.

      Under the 'Boil Water' Notice, all affected customers areadvised that water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used fordrinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiledwater used for making ice.

      The order will be lifted when one set(s) of bacteriologicalsamples indicate that the water is free of bacterial contamination and anadequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
