BRYANT (KATV) - Residents who live north of I-30 in Bryant are under a precautionary boil order due to a water main break. Those who are affected should bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute, then cool before using. Bottled water may also be used as an alternative. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice. The break in the 12-inch water man caused a loss of water pressure, making the water possibly unsafe for human consumption. The precautionary boil order notice will remain in effect until the work on the water main has been completed, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the water distribution system, and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The boil order is expected to be in effect for the next two to five days.
