FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - The brother of aDallas-area girl who was abducted, raped and buried alive in Arkansas in 1994 over hisalleged drug debt must serve nearly 13 years in prison for trafficking.
Federal prosecutors on Thursday announced thesentence for Neil Nick Rene of Duncanville, Texas. Rene pleaded guilty toconspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and money launderingconspiracy. Investigators said marijuana was mailed from Texas to the U.S.Virgin Islands.
Prosecutors have said Rene's innocent16-year-old sister, Lisa Rene of Arlington, was kidnapped, raped and slain in1994 by drug dealers looking for him.
She made a harrowing 911 call for help. Herbody was found in a shallow grave near Pine Bluff, Ark.
Two men are on death row for the slaying.Three people pleaded guilty to kidnapping and testified for the prosecution.
