Burglary suspect caught in the act by police

On 2/24, at approximately 8:30 AM, Benton Police Officer Chris Goss responded to a possible burglary in progress call at 317 Short Street. Upon his arrival he located a suspect, later identified as Jeremy Gregory (31 YOA, W/M), exiting the rear of the residence.

Ofc. Goss observed that Gregory was holding two large knives in his hands when he confronted him. Goss was able to deploy his Taser to incapacitate Gregory and safely take the knives away from him. There was over $3,000 worth of property recovered that was in Gregory's possession during this incident, including two stolen pistols.
Gregory was placed into custody and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility. Gregory is charged with Residential Burglary, Theft of Property, Carrying a Knife, Failure to Submit to Arrest, Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
