While the first half of this week's holiday is thanks, the second half is giving.
And wise giving is the focus of tonight's Seven-On-Your-Side report.
Americans thankful for all that they have may be inclined to give a bit more to others.
We have details of a web site to help make sure your donation is put to good use.
Last week we told you about the Better Business Bureau's charity checker at www.give.org.
Well we had several viewers contact us to tell us about another good web site that helps you make sure a charity is worthy of your generosity.
The site is charitynavigator.org.
Its slogan is "Your guide to intelligent giving."
In Charity Navigator's rating system, "4 stars" is the best score a charity can get.
A charity's financial health is one factor that is evaluated. The other is the charity's accountability and transparency.
One of Arkansas' 4 star charities is the Humane Society of Pulaski County.
Charity Navigator liked the high percentage of revenue spent on the mission and the low percentage spent on fundraising and staff.
The site also offers helpful tips and resources like seven questions to ask charities before donating.
Another article lists the ten charities that are overpaying their for-profit fundraisers.
And it lists the ten best practices of savvy donorsthings like eliminate the middleman and give directly to your charity of choice, beware of sound-a-like charities, double-check the charity's tax exempt status and ask for financial records.
There are other ways to check out a charity, and not all charities are evaluated by Charity Navigator or the Better Business Bureau.
You work hard for your money.
Make sure your charities of choice will work hard with your money.
