Congressman Tim Griffin tours oil spill cleanup site

The chairman of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Bill Shuster, joined republican Congressman Tim Griffin for a tour of the Mayflower oil spill cleanup site Sunday.

ExxonMobil's Pegasus pipeline ruptured in late March, spilling thousands of barrels of oil and causing more than 20 homes to be evacuated.

"When you have an accident like this, number one, you clean it up and make things right for those affected. And you do whatever you've got to do to make sure it never happens again," said Congressman Griffin.

Both men said they believe ExxonMobil is doing everything possible to clean up the site.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the spill can voice them Monday at a town hall meeting at the Natural Resource Center in Conway.{}The meeting will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
