Conjoined twins able to go home after nine months


A set of conjoined twins who were successfully separated are spending their first night at home Wednesday.Channel 7 first introduced you to the Ezell twins in September 2013.Their parents, Dave and Jenni, are from Arkansas but have been living in Dallas since the twins' birth in July.Owen and Emmitt were born joined from the breast bone to the belly button. They shared a liver and bowels, plus had a birth defect that left their intestines outside of their bodies and covered by a thin layer of tissue.{}They were successfully separated in August. During the nine-hour surgery, a team of surgeons separated the liver and intestines.Wednesday, Owen and Emmitt were released from Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas.Dr. Tom Renard, the lead pediatric separation surgeon, said the boys have more than doubled their size since birth.
