Contractor Strikes Again

DUMAS (KATV) -The list of people who regret hiring a Pine Bluff contractor continues to grow. The Bell family of Desha county is the latest.Maurice Bell has come to the realization that he has been scammed. But how he got scammed still bothers him.Bell admits that when he hired Nelson Walker to put siding on his Dumas home, his wife Glenda was not on board with the decision."He used this angle where, you know, a black can't get any work around here," recalls Bell. "And things that he does I is why people can't get any work. And it's theft. That's the only thing I can call it. It's pure theft."Bell says Walker approached he and his wife inside the Lowe's home improvement store in Pine Bluff and gave them not only his card...but a hard luck story. Other customers say they hired Walker after seeing his ad in the Pine Bluff Commercial.Although the job was started April 10th...very little siding or insulation has been delivered. Very little work has been done...and the work that has been done is unsatisfactory. Nelson Walker hasn't been back in over two months. We once again visited Walker's home in Pine Bluff. A new addition to the property...several "No Trespassing" signs. We asked two little girls to tell Mr. Walker we wanted to speak with him. They went one came out. He's not answering our calls either. Before we left Dumas we asked Maurice Bell if there was anything he would like to say to Nelson Walker."If I could...Mr. Walker would you come down and finish up the work?," asked Bell. "If not let me have my $5,800.00 back."Just counting the complaints we are aware of, Nelson Walker has been paid $21,500.00 for projects he has left unfinished or, in one case, never even started.Air date: July 25th, 2014
