CONWAY (KATV) - A Conway woman and her young son are safe after a domestic disturbance led to a SWAT situation. The woman's husband died at a local hospital after being arrested. The incident occurred Tuesday morning when Conway Police and SWAT responded to a home on Arden Lane. Police say they found a woman who had been stabbed several times. She told officers her husband, 28-year-old Branagen Davis, attacked her with a box cutter and then held their 2-year-old son hostage inside their home. SWAT attempted to contact Davis, but he did not answer the door or the phone. Officers observed the man and toddler were in separate rooms, so they were able to enter the house and rescue the boy. A short time later officers found Davis and brought him out of the house. Davis had a stab wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Detectives say the wife reported Davis had been acting weird and when she confronted him about his behavior, he attacked her. She told police she defended herself by stabbing him with a piece of broken glass. Police are trying to determine if he died from a stab wound, and if that wound was self-inflicted or as a result of the victim defending herself. The woman is being treated for her injuries. The 2-year-old boy was unharmed.
