Coroner: County jail inmate died of natural causes

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Faulkner County Coroner Pat Moore says the recent death of a county jail inmate was due to natural causes.

Moore told The Log Cabin Democrat that David Mitchell Dollar of Greenbrier died of ruptured esophageal varices resulting from cirrhosis of the liver. The condition occurs when blood flowing through the liver is obstructed and backs up into the abdomen - where the blood vessels eventually rupture.

Dollar was found dead in his cell on Aug. 20 after being arrested three days earlier for disorderly conduct.
