The Baxter County Sheriff's officehas arrested two people on felony battery charges related to the abuse of achild.
On August 16th, deputies responded to 3851 BufordRoad to investigate a child abuse complaint. A babysitter informed deputies the6 year old had bruising on the face, arms, chest, buttocks, and legs.
A Sheriff's Investigator startedan investigation and the child was taken into protective custody by theDepartment of Human Services, Division of Children and Family Services. Statementsfrom suspects and witnesses were recorded, and additional evidence wasgathered.
Investigators believe thatthe child's mother and boyfriend had been using a wooden board or paddle aswide as 3 1/2 inches to purportedly discipline the child with. The paddle wasfound, seized, and taken into evidence. It is also believed the injuriesto the child's face were caused by being slapped.
On August 22, an Investigatorsubmitted an affidavit to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney requestingthat charges be filed against the child's mother and boyfriend for felonydomestic battery.
August 29, warrants of arrestwere received by the Sheriff's Office and have been served.
Andrea Victoria Krupp, 33, and Richard Garrett House, 35, were booked into the DetentionCenter August 29. Both are held on a felony, domestic battery in the second degree.
The same day, they posted bondin the amount of $5,000 each. They are scheduled to appear in Baxter CountyCircuit Court on September 5.
