JONESBORO (AP) - After paying the Internal Revenue Service nearly a quarter million dollars in penalties and interest - Craighead County has received a refund of more than $131,000.
The county paid about $245,000 to the IRS for employment tax issues and failing to file required reports that dated to 2004. County Clerk Kade Holliday said Thursday that the IRS has refunded $131,637.
Holliday - who was elected in November - says changes that include software and computer upgrades are intended to prevent the mistakes from happening again.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
