Danza wins Arkansas Derby despite 40-1 odds

Over 63,000 people visiting Oaklawn in Hot Springs Saturday witnessed an upset.

A horse named Danza (named after Tony Danza) won the Arkansas Derby despite 40-1 odds.

Danza beat seven other horses and ran the track in one minute and 49 seconds, earning him 100 points in the Kentucky Derby standings. Those who've won the Arkansas Derby in the past usually do well in Triple Crown events.

The Arkansas Derby had over $12 million in bets on Saturday, the fourth{}highest in five years for Oaklawn.

The total attendance on Saturday almost doubled the population of Hot Springs. 63,186 people came out in weather that barely hit 80 degrees.

Danza will likely run again at the Kentucky Derby on May 3.
