BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A Desha man ended his first-degree murder trial by pleading guilty to killing his girlfriend's 22-month-old daughter.
Jesse Holloman entered the plea Tuesday in Independence County Circuit Court and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the November 2010 death of Harley Davidson. The Batesville Daily Guard reports (http://bit.ly/17McWfG ) that Holloman was sentenced to another six years in prison after also pleading guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia.
Prosecutor Don McSpadden says he and the child's mother agreed to the plea deal because they feared Holloman might be found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
Authorities say Holloman killed the child and left her body in a refrigerator - where it was later found by the girl's mother
An autopsy determined the girl died of asphyxiation.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
