Dumas pharmacy owner kills robber

A Dumas pharmacy owner shot and killed a robber, according to Dumas Police.

Bill Canada, Meador Pharmacy owner, told officers he opened the store around 5:30 Friday morning. When Canada went outside, Tavell Lawson walked up wearing a mask.

Canada told police that Lawson, 31, pointed a gun at him and demanded money. He tried to get away and told Lawson to stop, but Lawson continued to follow him, according to police.

Canada said that's when he then pulled out a gun, shot and killed Lawson. Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene.
