Education Commissioner Names New Chief of Staff

      (KATV, Source: ADE) Little Rock-- Commissioner of Education Dr. Tom Kimbrell has announced Deborah Coffman as the Department of Education's new chief of staff.

      "Few can boast the experience that Deborah brings to thisjob," said Kimbrell. "I'm confident she will help us in our missionto provide the best educational opportunities for students."

      Coffman is currently director of professional development.She has also served as literacy program manager for Arkansas Department ofEducation, instructional facilitator for Pocahontas Public Schools, literacyspecialist at the Northeast Education Service Cooperative and elementaryteacher at Hoxie Public Schools.

      Coffman holds a bachelor of science in education and amaster of science in education. In addition, she has previously served as adjunctprofessor, GED instructor and private school educator.

      "I look forward to working with Commissioner Kimbrell andhis team and with school leaders across Arkansas," said Coffman.

      Coffman will assume her new position June 17.
