Education officials want greater degree completion

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas education officials are touting a plan to enable more Arkansas college students to complete their degrees.

Leaders in higher education are to gather on Wednesday to announce an initiative that's intended to help more people stick with their studies.

The effort is part of an initiative announced by Gov. Mike Beebe two years ago to double the number of college graduates in Arkansas by 2025.

On hand for Wednesday's announcement are to be Neal Gibson of the Arkansas Research Center, Ed Franklin, president of the Arkansas Association of 2-Year Colleges and Shane Broadway, interim Higher Education Department director.
